Giorgio Dell’Acqua, director of Dellacqua Consulting, and vice president of ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL), has been named chair-elect of the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC), the Society has announced. The NYSCC is one of 19 chapters of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the largest chapter in the world.
As chair-elect, Dell’Acqua, a cosmetic scientist, assumes a three-year commitment as a key member of the executive board, effective January 1. In his first year, he will plan the chapter’s activities for 2021 and vote on executive decisions regarding chapter operations. In 2022 as chair, he will take on a variety of responsibilities playing an instrumental role in increasing the NYSCC’s 1,800 members’ knowledge of the cosmetic science and marketing industries. To complete his three-year term in 2023 as an adviser, he will be responsible for guiding the incoming chair.
Dell’Acqua’s goals include delivering innovative scientific and marketing communication platforms to members, strengthening collaboration with sister organizations such as the American Chemical Society, expanding NYSCC’s media coverage, fostering partnerships with school-based cosmetic science programs, and reaching out to young chapters members to offer them mentoring support and networking opportunities. He will also work to increase the Society’s attention to the social and environmental pillars of sustainability by promoting initiatives on social inclusivity and the reduction of waste.
“I’m honored to be able to lead these exciting initiatives,” said Dell’Acqua. “I have always been on a quest for knowledge, not only for myself, but for others. Serving on the board will enable me to advance my ideas and engage constituents in new learning opportunities.”
