As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put a strain on Haiti’s medical resources, more medical supplies and medical professionals are needed to assist with delivering quality healthcare to the citizens of Haiti. ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) is proud to announce the donation of two Project C.U.R.E. Kits to the Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA) of Garden State. These Project C.U.R.E. Kits are packaged, easily portable medical supplies that could be transported as luggage by medical personnel on their outreach trips abroad. They contain supplies for wound care and personal hygiene products that most clinics generally lack but greatly need. Each Project C.U.R.E. Kit has about $2000 worth of medical supplies. Once these Kits are released to the traveler, the Kits’ contents are restricted from being sold and the supplies are only to be used according to the country’s medical provisions. What makes these Kits especially convenient is their practicality to travel with since each one of the Project C.U.R.E. Kits meets international airline regulations, making them ideal to bring to Haiti in order to meet the growing needs for medical supplies and care.

The Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA) of Garden State, the recipients of these Project C.U.R.E. Kits, is a non-profit organization of healthcare professionals who strive to make contributions towards the Haitian people through research, education, and nursing practice. Their mission statement is “to promote healthcare and wellness within the Haitian and surrounding communities and abroad where health disparities exist through education.” They have organized nursing scholarship fundraisers, relief efforts after the August earthquake, a Fall Wellness Fair that included COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots, and many more events.

This donation was made possible by our organization’s Medical Specialist, Florise Altino-Pierre. As a nurse with extensive knowledge and experience with mission trips to Haiti, Ms. Florise especially understands how important medical supplies are to the community. IAFL is confident that HANA of Garden State will put these Project C.U.R.E. Kits to good use on their next outreach trip.
