The mission of ITIAH Angels for Learning is to promote optimal educational conditions for students in Haiti. One way of fostering learning is by ensuring that the children have enough food to eat to concentrate in school properly. ITIAH Angels for Learning is thankful to the Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA) of Garden State for hosting a community food drive for the children. The event hosts will ship all donated food to the students at the École Mère Louise school. One of the core missions of HANA of Garden State is to “promote leadership, professional, and educational advancement of Haitian nurses to meet the health care needs of the Haitian population.” With similar visions and initiatives, ITIAH Angels for Learning is beyond grateful to have the support of HANA of Garden State.
For the food drive, HANA of Garden State is collecting nonperishable items such as canned and packaged foods. Any donation is welcomed, but these items are greatly appreciated:
- Tang powder juice packets
- Boxes of white Domino sugar
- Bags of white rice
- Bags of beans
- Canned sardines, mackerel & salmon
- Spaghetti
- Vegetable cooking oil
- Cans of tomato paste
ITIAH Angels for Learning has previously collaborated with HANA of Garden State. Most recently, ITIAH Angels for Learning donated medical supplies (two Project C.U.R.E. Kits) to the nurses at HANA of Garden State to use on their mission trip to Haiti after the recent earthquake. ITIAH Angels for Learning is excited to continue their partnership and help fight childhood hunger together.
The food drive is running until the end of March. If interested in donating to the food drive, don’t hesitate to contact hanaofgardenstate@gmail.com and
