Our mission focuses on three essential areas that uplift entire communities:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Education:<\/b> Ensuring children have access to quality learning opportunities, regardless of circumstance. Imagine with the takeover that took place at their school facility, what would they have done without our support?<\/span>\u00a0 Martin Luther King Jr. famously quoted “<\/span>The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character\u2014that is the goal of true education”. He also stated that “Education without social action is a one-sided value because it has no true power potential”.<\/span><\/i> It is our goal that the students will become critical thinkers and ultimately be spurred to action so they can deliver themselves from the hardship that has been their way of life. Our work is impactful and delivers real results to real human beings.<\/span>\n

  2. Nutrition and Clean Water:<\/b> Providing hot meals and safe water to sustain both health and concentration. Remember when we first launched IAFL, we sent a group of doctors to the school facility in Port-Au-Prince to perform a physical for the students. To our greatest surprise we found that the majority of the students were carrying out their daily activities while suffering from water borne illnesses and lacking certain vitamins. No one was aware of these infections ravaging the students\u2019 bodies and there was no treatment in sight. We stepped in with a food and clean water drive and we delivered three drums of unperishable food for the students to take home and we shipped five water purifiers costing 15,000 USD along with buckets and water filters. <\/span>\n

  3. Healthcare:<\/b> Thanks to the dedication and creativity of Kristina Patel, a former IAFL volunteer and Rutgers fellow, we successfully partnered with Project C.U.R.E. to supply vital medical resources to our school clinic. After submitting an application, IAFL contributed $400, and Project C.U.R.E. generously sent $800 worth of medical supplies, which were delivered to the school’s clinic. Project C.U.R.E.\u2019s mission is to provide essential medical equipment and supplies to communities in need worldwide through their C.U.R.E. Kits portable, pre-packed suitcases filled with basic medical necessities. This initiative began after student physicals revealed that many girls were facing infections and vitamin deficiencies. We are also deeply grateful to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (Trenton) members Dennie Higgins, Dulce Lawton, and former IAFL communications volunteer Brenda Whiteman for donating hygiene and skincare products, sanitary pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and cotton underwear.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Together, we are helping every child grow stronger, healthier, and more confident. Without these pillars, the light of possibility would fade for many of these students. Your support keeps that light shining.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
