{"id":9137,"date":"2021-10-17T03:24:13","date_gmt":"2021-10-17T03:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itiahangels.org\/?p=9137"},"modified":"2021-10-20T00:23:44","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T00:23:44","slug":"iafl-raises-money-for-haitis-earthquake-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itiahangels.org\/es\/iafl-raises-money-for-haitis-earthquake-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"IAFL Raises Money for Haiti\u2019s Earthquake Victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In its efforts to aid the victims of the recent magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Haiti, ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) has raised $4,997.57 to help distribute food, water, and other urgent items and supplies for the residents of Les Cayes, one of the many cities in the southwestern region about 75 miles west of Port-au-Prince. Twenty-four Friends of IAFL helped make this possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to IAFL founder, Marie Thadal, the headmaster of EML put IAFL in touch with its sister school in Les Cayes to determine what supplies are urgently needed. \u201cThe amount we have raised so far will buy enough supplies to help feed about 200 families for one week,\u201d says Thadal. \u201cThat is about $25 per week for each family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The earthquake was followed by Hurricane Grace and multiple aftershocks. \u201cMany homes and schools were destroyed while others were damaged with cracks and fissures.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IAFL is currently in the process of collecting food, individual water filters, medical and hygiene supplies, and tarp tents for earthquake victims. Four hundred dollars was used to purchase a value of $4,000 worth of medical supply kits from Project C.U.R.E. These items were shipped to HANA (Haitian American Nurses Association) of Florida to go to residents in the South of Haiti.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are truly grateful for this outpouring of support,\u201d says Florise Pierre, the head of the medical department. \u201cIAFL will continue to raise funds to help pay for the shipment of items.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To make a donation, go to: <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/37ZyHiK\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/37ZyHiK<\/a>.
