While our work touches the lives of children in Haiti, the mission of ITIAH Angels for Learning (IAFL) extends far beyond geographical borders. By design, our organization is two-fold in purpose, nurturing both the students we serve abroad and the aspiring changemakers here in the United States.
In Haiti, we focus on providing children with the educational tools, nourishment, and healthcare they need to thrive. But here in the U.S., IAFL serves as a bridge between compassion and action, offering high school and university students the opportunity to volunteer, gain hands-on experience, and apply their skills to real-world humanitarian projects.
Through these opportunities, students don’t just contribute; they grow. They learn the value of empathy, leadership, and global responsibility, discovering that true fulfillment comes from lifting others. Many have described their volunteer work as a life-changing experience that shaped their outlook and career path.
To make this possible, IAFL partners with Robbinsville High School FRC 2590 Robotics team, Handshake, the nationwide platform connecting us with universities across the country. Our long-standing partnership with Rutgers University’s Douglass Residential College remains a cornerstone of our student engagement program. Year after year, students from Douglass Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) bring their enthusiasm, talent, and heart to our initiatives.
Recognizing their dedication, IAFL has established special scholarship funds to honor students who demonstrate exceptional compassion and commitment, those who give selflessly to help children in communities less fortunate than their own.
At its core, IAFL exists to empower both the giver and the receiver. By investing in young leaders and creating a space where service meets learning, we ensure that the spirit of gratitude, empathy, and education continues to ripple across generations and borders.
