Marie Thadal Invited to Speak at STEM Career Panel at Rutgers University

On Saturday, October 1, Itiah Angels for Learning (IAFL) founder Marie Thadal participated in the Christiana Foglio DC ’84 Douglass Career Conference at Rutgers University. With her background in chemistry, cosmetics and business, Thadal was invited to be a panelist for the panel titled Succeeding in STEM: Careers in Biotech, Cosmetics, Food Science and Sustainability. Despite the cold, rainy weather, the event had a record number of students attended, with over one hundred students attending Thadal’s panel! 

“It was an honor to be invited back to Douglass to share my career journey with the students. I am also always willing to give my time if a positive contribution can be made to someone’s life,” Thadal said. While there, students also learned more about Thadal’s involvement with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists as well as IAFL and its mission, which piqued students’ interest in both organizations. In fact, one student, Sreekruthi Dubagunta, is joining IAFL’s IT team as a fellow. “It’s exciting to be able to provide hands-on experience to students of my Alma Mater,” Thadal expressed. The career panel was moderated by Margaret “Maggie” Hillyer, a Rutgers transfer student pursuing a degree in chemistry and involved in chemistry research on campus. The BOLD Center at Douglass Residential College has expressed their gratitude for Thadal’s participation and plans to stay in touch with IAFL regarding opportunities in the cosmetic industry and the non-profit for the students.
