The vision has never been a solo effort. It grows through the people who show up for it, and two global observances this month give us a chance to celebrate them.
World Teachers’ Day, October 5. UNESCO marks World Teachers’ Day every October 5. Its 2026 theme is “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.” Teachers turn a school year into daily encouragement, patience and belief. On October 5, we honor the teachers at École Mère Louise (EML) and educators everywhere who help children write the next chapter of their stories.
International Day of the Girl, October 11. Every year on October 11, the United Nations observes International Day of the Girl, a global day to celebrate girls and amplify their voices, actions and leadership. Girls everywhere deserve the chance to learn, lead and shape their own futures. That belief is why our 8 Girls 8 Opportunities campaign matters to us: $200 sponsors a girl’s education for an entire year.
