It is that time of the year when we start to think about our commitment to pay the tuition for the 100 students at Ecole Mere Louise School. Keeping our little girls in school is critical to our work. The school environment provides the girls a safe place to learn and shields them away from all the drama of their neighborhoods and keeps them off the dangerous street.
Have you seen the latest series of articles by The New York Times detailing the roots of Haiti’s horrible conditions since it fought for its freedom from slavery?. Our founder was born in Haiti. You can fairly assume life was not easy for her from the start. Her education journey began at Ecole Mere Louise primary school in Haiti. With a helping hand from a complete stranger, the trajectory of her life and that of her children was forever transformed. Without this miraculous assistance, she would have never been able to blossom to become a major influencer in the cosmetic industry.
In 2018, she founded Itiah Angels for Learning (IAFL) to give kids a helping hand at the same elementary school that she attended in Haiti. IAFL’s mission is to provide funds and supplies to ensure that kids with the greatest financial difficulties can attend school uninterrupted. School is not free in Haiti. Knowing that when in school, the students are provided a hot meal, clean water, and access to medical care, it is crucial that the organization meets its annual objectives. Annually, IAFL transfers $20,000 to the school to cover the cost of tuition for the students. Throughout the year, IAFL also ships school suppliers, clothes, nonperishable food, water filter & purifier, protective equipment against infection, etc.
Currently, our volunteers are eagerly raising funds for the upcoming school year 2022-2023. Before school starts in the Fall, we hope to send a minimum of $10,000 to the school. While we have a full lineup of outreach events scheduled for this summer, we come to you also for assistance. You have helped us in various ways before.
